Our core functions and services can be described in seven categories:

Benefits Counseling
Certified Benefits Counselors provide accurate and objective counseling, assistance and advocacy in relation to public and private benefits.

Education and Training
General and evidence-based training and education for professionals and consumers related to aging, developmental and physical disabilities.

Housing Navigation
Services designed to help individuals and families identify appropriate, affordable and accessible housing options.

Navigation
Assists customers by screening for needs and directing them to the appropriate services and support.

Options Counseling
Provides support to ensure and monitor service linkages to address long-term and complex customer needs. This may include referral to organizations that provide case management.

Respite
Provides respite support, which gives caregivers a chance to “take a break” from their caregiving responsibilities.

Transportation
Rides for people with disabilities and older adults. Transportation is available for those who live in Harris County, are 65 and older or are any age with a disability, and travel within Harris County.

Texas Health and Human Services (HHS)
Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) local intake offices serve and enroll eligible seniors and people of all ages with physical disabilities. Persons interested in applying for HHS community care services should call the number listed below.

Area Agency on Aging (AAA)
The Area Agency on Aging in Harris County helps older Texans (60+), their family members and/or other caregivers receive the information and assistance they need in locating and accessing community services.

Local Intellectual and Developmental Disability Authority (LIDDA)
LIDDA offers each county in Texas community-based services for persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities or a pervasive developmental disorder. They also provide enrollment services to people who are eligible for certain Medicaid-funded services and supports.
