Care Connection Aging & Disability Resource Center

Evidence-Based Programs

What is an Evidence-Based Program?

Care Connection Aging and Disability Resource Center strives to provide services that will benefit people with disabilities, persons who are older and family members. One of the ways we accomplish this is through the provision of evidence-based classes and programs. Evidence-based programs allow participants to experience improvements in health and well-being as a result of participation in the classes.

Programs recognized as evidence-based have demonstrated the highest level of effectiveness based the following criteria (see http://www.projectenhance.org/aboutevidencebasedprograms.aspx for more information):

  • Evaluation research shows that the program produces the expected positive results;
  • The results can be attributed to the program itself, rather than to other outside factors or events;
  • The evaluation is peer-reviewed by experts in the field; and
  • The program is “endorsed” by a federal agency or respected research organization and included in their list of effective programs.
